LAUNCHING GENESIS FOUNDATION OF HOPE AND RESTORATION JULY 31, 2020
HAPPY 4th ANNIVERSARY (2024) Genesis Foundation of Hope and Restoration, Inc.!!!
Genesis Foundation of Hope and Restoration, Inc. launched on the World Wide Web the afternoon of Friday, July 31, 2020. I had been expecting to access the website all day, and at 4:50 p.m. in the afternoon, I checked and viola, the site was alive! I have saved the emails from that day as memorabilia and history in the making as this was one of my first ventures as a minister and business owner.
Locally, the day the foundation was launched, there was a storm (Isaias) brewing in the Atlantic Ocean, but it had not reached the North Carolina coast. The storm formed as a tropical wave off the coast of Africa on July 23, 2020. Isaias was born south of Puerto Rico at 11 p.m. on July 29, 2020, and it made landfall August 3-4, 2020, after 11 p.m. with winds of 85 mph at Ocean Isle Beach in Brunswick County, which is approximately an hour from Wilmington, NC.on, NC.
Nationally, Donald Trump was the President of the United States and he was calling for a delay of the 2020 elections because he was not the top vote leader for the office of President. On this day also in history, the following events were happening:
- Pope Francis was the leader of the Roman Catholic Church
- COVID-19 was reeking havoc in our country and around the world
- Our economy had taken a plunge
- John Lewis (D-Ga) dies and is eulogized by 3 living U.S. Presidents (Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton)
- NASA launches the Perseverance rover to Mars
- The NBA resumes the season (after COVID-19) with the Black Lives Matter logo printed on the court
- It was the 41st day of summer; there was 53 days to the fall season
- It was the 213th day of the year; there was 153 days left in the year
Internationally, governments and world health organizations were making decisions to try and manage the COVID-19 pandemic.
I would like to thank family members who have been instrumental in helping to launch the website.
I would like to thank Wilmington Design Company (WDC) employees for their help and hard work in designing/developing the website and posting updates regularly.
The short and long-term goals for the foundation (not necessarily in this order) that I will focus on in the coming years are:
• Writing and developing by-laws for the foundation
• Locating and hiring a business manager for the foundation
• Planning fund-raisers for the foundation
• Researching sponsorship and looking for a sponsor
• Applying for the LLC license for the foundation
• Applying for grants
• Hiring an accountant
• To offer volunteer training for Group 1 volunteers
I would like to personally thank each of you for frequenting the site weekly.
